As of Spring 2026, MC students self-reported that the following is what motivates them to participate in Metropolitan College:

  • 60% MC is the only way to pay for tuition.
  • 78% I want to avoid taking out loans
  • 21% Already had some debt and didn’t want to add to it. 
  • 12% Financial resources I originally relied on are no longer available (i.e. scholarships, grants, family support, etc.)
  • 52% I wanted to maximize all ways to financially support education and living expenses.
  • 49% UPS benefits beyond tuition were important to me (i.e. pay, insurance, etc.)
  • 11% A MC Career Pathway attracted me to the program.

As of Spring 2026, MC students self-reported that with Metropolitan College participating benefits, they would describe their financial circumstances as:

  • 15% I do not have to worry about money
  • 32% I have extra money after paying my bills
  • 33% I am breaking even
  • 20% I am barely making it
  • 1% I cannot make ends meet. 

As of Spring 2026:

  • 47% of UofL and 54% of JCTC MC students are eligible for federal aid (Pell, CAP, or SEOG).
