The Metropolitan College Parent of the Year Award was established in 2019.

Metropolitan College participants of Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) and the University of Louisville (UofL) are encouraged to nominate their parent or caregiver who made a significant impact and contribution in their life.

A selection committee comprising leaders of Metropolitan College and UPS judged student essays and selected one winner from JCTC and two winners from UofL.

All parents nominated received a congratulatory letter and were offered free tickets to the Louisville Bat's baseball game on September 9th. All of the award winners were celebrated during this baseball game. Each award winner received an award as well as a giftbag. The two UofL winners were also celebrated at the annual UofL Parent of the Year ceremony hosted by the Parent and Family Association.

At Metropolitan College, we understand families are an essential part of the support network for our students. We extend our congratulations and gratitude to all of the 2023 Metropolitan College Parent of the Year Award winners and nominees. Your dedication and commitment to our students is recognized and appreciated.

JCTC Winner

Congratulations to Danielle House, parent of Reece Christopherson!

Danielle is a single mother that juggles the responsibilities of parenthood, work, and pursing higher education seamlessly. Reece wrote, "She is a great leader, she helps anybody that wants to help create a better person for themselves and she always can make the impossible possible."

UofL Winners

Congratulations to Matthew Allen, parent to Grace Allen!

Matthew is a fellow UPS employee and Grace has always admired her dad's work ethic and dedication to their family. Grace wrote, "Dad is patient, kind, and understanding. He's always there if you need to talk or need advice. Ask anyone and they would say that my dad is one in a million. He's got a loving heart and is strong in his faith. He's an amazing role model and works so hard for our family."

Congratulations to Barbara Roberts-Talbot, grandmother to Jeremiah Ellis!

Barbara stepped into the role of parent when Jeremiah lost his mother in 2021 due to cancer. Jeremiah wrote, "I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life or how to feel about losing my mom before even graduating high school. My granny knew that she wanted to see me at my best self so she plated her part in helping me find out what I wanted to do. And since that day she has been my backbone and supporting every decision that I make."
