Share how the Metropolitan College program has helped you to achieve your goals—personal and/or professional.


Essay or Video

  • Essay: 300 words or less; or
  • Video: 90 seconds or less in length and must be uploaded to YouTube

Note: Making a video is a fun and easy way to share your Metropolitan College experience. You can create your video using a smartphone, webcam, camcorder, etc. All video entries must be uploaded to YouTube for review, and you will be required to provide the URL link to your video on the online Contest Entry form. If you do not have a YouTube account you can create one for free at youtube.com. See the full contest rules for specific video requirements before you get started.


Prizes

Essay Winners and Finalists

Essay Winners will have their Metropolitan College experience and photograph featured on the website in addition to the following prizes:

  • 1st Place Essay Winners may select one item priced up to $50 from the JCTC Bookstore or the official UofL Bookstore.
  • 2nd Place Essay Winners may select one item priced up to $25 from the JCTC Bookstore or the official UofL Bookstore.
  • 3rd Place Essay Winners will receive a Metropolitan College t-shirt and complimentary gift item.

Essay Finalists will receive honorable mention and have their Metropolitan College experience and photograph featured on the website.

Video Winners and Finalists

Video Winners will have their Metropolitan College experience and photograph featured on the website in addition to the following prizes:

  • 1st Place Video Winners may select one item priced up to $75 from the JCTC Bookstore or the official UofL Bookstore.
  • 2nd Place Video Winners may select one item priced up to $50 from the JCTC Bookstore or the official UofL Bookstore.
  • 3rd Place Video Winners may select one item priced up to $25 from the JCTC Bookstore or the official UofL Bookstore.

Video Finalists will receive honorable mention and have their Metropolitan College experience and photograph featured on the website.

Note: Please note that bookstore prices may change without notice. If the prize item you request is out of stock, subject to a delay or the price is higher than that shown at the time of your inquiry, we will contact you to discuss other options.


Eligibility and Full Contest Rules

Must be a current or former Metropolitan College participant, and have signed at least one student agreement with the Metropolitan College office.

(1) ELIGIBILITY: You must be a current or former Metropolitan College participant, and have signed at least one student agreement with the Metropolitan College office. You may enter as many Share Your Metropolitan College Contests as you wish, provided that each submission is unique and satisfies the submission requirements listed below. There will be a limit of one entry per Contest (essay or video).

(2) THEME: Share how Metropolitan College has helped you to achieve your goals (i.e. personal and/or professional).

(3) SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Must be an original work. Originality, interest level, creativity, and quality of your submission are the main criteria. You may share your experience by essay or video (Choose One).

(4) ESSAY: 300 words or less

  1. All Essay Contestants will be required to submit an online Contest Entry form at www.metro-college.com.
  2. Use of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation will be taken into consideration.
  3. It’s recommended that you write your essay in a text editor first such as Microsoft Word, and copy and paste your story into the essay box provided on the online Contest Entry form.

(5) VIDEO: 90 seconds or less in length and must be uploaded to YouTube.

  1. Video must be uploaded to YouTube for review and comply with the terms and conditions of website (including file upload size limits). If you do not have a YouTube account, you can create one for free at www.youtube.com.
  2. All Video Contestants will be required to submit an online Contest Entry form at www.metro-college.com, and will be required to provide the URL link to your YouTube video on the online Contest Entry form.
  3. You can create your video using a smartphone, webcam, camcorder, etc.
  4. Original video file type must be in .AVI, .MOV, .MP4, .MPEG, .MPG or .WMV format.
  5. All videos must be recorded on a white background or plain wall with no distractions.
  6. If there is narration in your video, the narration must be in your voice, must be in English.
  7. No other person(s) may be featured in your video apart from yourself or your video will be disqualified.
  8. No copyrighted material or trademarks including images or music may be used in your video.
  9. Use of music is optional. However, any music included in your video must be original and performed solely by you.
  10. IMPORTANT: Video privacy settings must be set to Public (means anyone can see your video) or Unlisted (means only individuals who know the link to your video can view it). Once the Contest Winners and Finalists have been announced on the Metropolitan College website you can change the privacy settings on your video and/or remove your video from YouTube.

(6) HOW TO ENTER: The Share YOUR Metropolitan College Experience Contest will begin on August 1 and end on September 30 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) ("Submission Period"). During the Submission Period, Contestants may visit the Metropolitan College website at www.metro-college.com to enter the Contest. To enter, you must complete the online Contest Entry Form at www.metro-college.com. Contestants are encouraged to save a copy of all entry materials as Metropolitan College is not responsible for any written essays or videos that are lost, damaged, or that do not upload properly during the submission process.

(7) SELECTION OF WINNERS AND FINALISTS: Entries will be judged by Metropolitan College staff who will evaluate each entry based on the following judging criteria: originality, interest level, creativity, and overall quality of the submission. The top three (3) highest scoring Contestants for essay and video entries will be declared potential Finalists. Potential Finalists will be notified via phone and/or email by the first week of November. Potential Finalists must provide a signed consent form and headshot photograph of yourself by the date specified in your notification email or the opportunity to be a Finalist may be forfeited. Metropolitan College will select from the Finalists one (1) Winner and up to two (2) Runner-ups for both Essay and Video entries. Winners will be notified via phone and/or email by the third week of November.

(8) CONSENT FORM, PHOTOGRAPH, AND COPY OF ORIGINAL VIDEO FILE: If chosen as a Finalist, you will be notified by phone and/or email and will be required to submit a signed consent form (to be provided by Contest Coordinator) and headshot photograph of yourself. Video Finalists will be required to submit a copy of their original video file by email or mail. Requested items must be received by the date specified in your notification email or you may be disqualified from further consideration. (*) Metropolitan College reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of the Contest, including but not limited to Contest deadlines and prizes. If we do not receive any entries meeting the entry requirements, we may, at our discretion, reserve the right to not select any Winners or Finalists. If the bookstore prize item you request is out of stock, subject to a delay, or the price is higher than that shown at the time of your inquiry, we will contact you to discuss other options.
